American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA)

Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists (SCA)

  • The SCA is an international organization of over 6,000 cardiac, thoracic, and vascular anesthesiologists that promotes excellence in clinical care, education, and research in the subspecialty. Anesthesiologists and other health care professionals are encouraged to explore our site and learn about our educational and scientific meetings and on-line content. Society For Pediatric Anesthesia (SPA)

Cardiology

American College of Cardiolgoy (ACC)

  • The mission of the American College of Cardiology is to advocate for quality cardiovascular care through education, research promotion, development and application of standards and guidelines to influence health care policy. Most ACC members work in private group practices, with the balance working in medical schools/universities, solo practice, private hospitals, government institutions/hospitals, and HMOs.

American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP)

  • The College is the leading resource for the improvement in cardiopulmonary health and critical care worldwide. The College's efforts are focused on achieving its mission to promote the prevention and treatment of diseases of the chest through leadership, education, research, and communication.

Society of Invasive Cardiovascular Professionals (SICP)

  • The Society of Invasive Cardiovascular Professionals is a non-profit organization that promotes and encourages participation of the invasive cardiovascular professional in his/her professional organization. Participation and support of the SICP will serve to enhance the perception of professionalism and high quality of care delivered to patients undergoing procedures in Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories. The SICP is committed to providing educational and networking opportunities to all members and cardiovascular professionals.

American Society of Hypertension, INC. (ASH)

  • ASH is the largest US professional organization of scientific investigators and health care professionals committed to eliminating hypertension and its consequences. The Society serves as a scientific forum that bridges current hypertension research with effective clinical treatment strategies for patients.

Critical Care

Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM)

  • The Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) is the largest multiprofessional organization dedicated to ensuring excellence and consistency in the practice of critical care. With 14,000 members in 80 countries, SCCM is the only organization that represents all professional components of the critical care team. The Society offers a variety of activities that promote excellence in patient care, education, research, and advocacy.

Dermatology

American Academy of Dermatology (AAD)

  • The Academy is the largest, most influential and most representative of all dermatologic associations. With a membership of more than 16,000 physicians worldwide, the Academy is committed to supporting and enhancing patient care for a lifetime of healthier skin, hair and nails

American Dermatological Association (ADA)

  • Membership has been offered to the teachers, investigators, writers, and leaders of North American dermatology. Membership is by nomination by peers and is a reward for work well done.

American Society of Dermatology (ASD)

  • The mission of this organization is to facilitate optimal dermatologic care being available to all citizens of this country by preserving, promoting and enhancing the private practice of dermatology.

Emergency Medicine

Society for Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM)

  • The Society for Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM) is dedicated to the improvement of care of the acutely ill and injured patient by improving research and education. To achieve this mission, SAEM influences health policy through forums, publications, inter-organizational collaboration, policy development, and consultation services for physicians, teachers, researchers, and students.

American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM)

  • The American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM) is the specialty society of emergency medicine. The Academy is committed to providing affordable high quality continuing medical education in emergency medicine for its members. The personal and professional welfare of the individual specialist in emergency medicine is a primary concern to the AAEM.

American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP)

  • The American College of Emergency Physicians promotes the highest quality of emergency care and is the leading advocate for emergency physicians, their patients, and the public. Emergency physicians are recognized and valued for their commitment to high quality patient care, teaching, leadership, research, and innovation.

National Emergency Medicine Association (NEMA)

  • The National Emergency Medicine Association (NEMA) is committed to trauma prevention and the delivery of quality medical services at each stage of trauma with and emphasis on first response at the time of the emergency. Our mission is the prevention of injury and illness by addressing health and social issues through education, applied research, technology and equipment.

Association of Emergency Physicians (AEP)

  • The Association of Emergency Physicians (AEP) is an association for all practicing emergency physicians, regardless of residency training and/or board certification status. AEP exists to represent the "in the trenches" emergency physicians, those who primarily practice clinical emergency medicine. AEP encourages active involvement of its members and believes that together we can make a positive difference.

Endocrinology

American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE)

  • The American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists is a professional community of physicians specializing in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism committed to enhancing the ability of its members to provide the highest quality of patient care. These physicians devote a significant part of their career to the evaluation and management of patients with endocrine disease.

The Endocrine Society

  • The Endocrine Society is the world's oldest, largest, and most active organization devoted to research on hormones and the clinical practice of endocrinology. The Society works to foster a greater understanding of endocrinology amongst the general public and practitioners of complementary medical disciplines and to promote the interests of all endocrinologists at the national scientific research and health policy levels of government.

Society for Endocrinology

  • The Society for Endocrinology was set up in 1946 to promote the advance of endocrinology. The Society currently has about 1900 members and is increasing its size and range of activities rapidly. Membership is open to anyone anywhere in the world working in an endocrine-related field, at any stage of their career.

Family Practice

American Academy of Family Practice (AAFP)

  • The American Academy of Family Physicians is one of the largest national medical organizations, representing more than 94,700 family physicians, family medicine residents and medical students nationwide. Founded in 1947, its mission has been to preserve and promote the science and art of Family Medicine and to ensure high-quality, cost-effective health care for patients of all ages.

Gastroenterology

American College of Gastroenterology (ACG)

  • The mission of the American College of Gastroenterology shall be to advance the medical treatment and scientific study of gastrointestinal disorders. The College will strive to serve the evolving needs of physicians in the delivery of high quality scientific, humanistic, clinical, ethical, and cost-effective health care to gastroenterology patients.

American Gastroenterological Association (AGA)

  • The American Gastroenterological Association is the trusted voice of the GI community. Founded in 1897, the AGA has grown to include 17,000 members from around the globe who are involved in all aspects of the science, practice and advancement of gastroenterology. The AGA Institute administers the practice, research and educational programs of the organization.

Geriatrics

American Geriatrics Society (AGS)

  • The American Geriatrics Society (AGS) is a not-for-profit organization of over 6,400 health professionals devoted to improving the health, independence and quality of life of all older people. The Society provides leadership to healthcare professionals, policy makers and the public by implementing and advocating for programs in patient care, research, professional and public education, and public policy.

Hematology

American Society of Hematology (ASH)

  • The American Society of Hematology (ASH) is the world’s largest professional society concerned with the causes and treatments of blood disorders. The mission of the Society is to further the understanding, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disorders affecting the blood, bone marrow, and the immunologic, hemostatic and vascular systems, by promoting research, clinical care, education, training, and advocacy in hematology.

Hospitalist

Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM)

  • SHM's mission is to promote the highest quality care for hospitalized patients, as well as provide opportunities and support to hospitalists. We are committed to enhancing the practice of hospital medicine by promoting education, research and advocacy. SHM’s membership is comprised of approximately 10,000 hospitalists with approximately 28,000 in the profession overall. It is expected that there will be upwards of 30,000 in the hospitalist profession by the end of the decade.

Infectious Disease

Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA)

  • The Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) represents physicians, scientists and other health care professionals who specialize in infectious diseases. IDSA’s purpose is to improve the health of individuals, communities, and society by promoting excellence in patient care, education, research, public health, and prevention relating to infectious diseases.

Internal Medicine

Society of General Internal Medicine (SGIM)

  • The Society of General Internal Medicine was founded in 1978 by a national group of academic general internists committed to promoting research and education aimed at improving healthcare for the whole patient. The organization has grown to nearly 3,000 members over three decades.

American College of Physicians (ACP)

  • The American College of Physicians (ACP) is a national organization of internists — physicians who specialize in the prevention, detection and treatment of illnesses in adults. ACP is the largest medical-specialty organization and second-largest physician group in the United States. Its membership of 129,000 includes internists, internal medicine subspecialists, and medical students, residents, and fellows.

Nephrology

American Society of Nephrology (ASN)

American Society of Diagnostic and Interventional Nephrology (ASDIN)

  • The mission of the American Society of Diagnostic and Interventional Nephrology is to promote the appropriate application of new and existing procedures in order to improve the care of patients with kidney disease. The American Society of Diagnostic and Interventional Nephrology was founded in 2000 to promote the proper application of new and existing procedures in the practice of nephrology with the goal of improving the care of nephrology patients.

Neurology

American Neurological Association (ANA)

  • The American Neurological Association is a professional society of academic neurologists and neuroscientists devoted to advancing the goals of academic neurology; to training and educating neurologists and other physicians in the neurologic sciences; and to expanding both our understanding of diseases of the nervous system and our ability to treat them.

American Academy of Neurology (AAN)

  • The American Academy of Neurology (AAN), established in 1948, is an international professional association of more than 22,000 neurologists and neuroscience professionals dedicated to promoting the highest quality patient-centered neurologic care. The AAN is strongly committed to its mission and focuses its efforts on ensuring the reality of the principles and standards set forth in the AAN mission statement.

Obstetrics and Gynecology

American Gynecological and Obstetrical Society (AGOS)

  • The American Gynecological & Obstetrical Society advances the health of women by providing dedicated leadership and promoting excellence in research, education and medical practice. The AGOS is an organization composed of individuals attaining national prominence in scholarship in the discipline of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women's Health.

American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG)

  • Founded in 1951 in Chicago, Illinois, ACOG has over 52,000 members and is the nation's leading group of professionals providing health care for women. Now based in Washington, DC, it is a private, voluntary, nonprofit membership organization.

Central Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (CAOG)

  • The Central Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists is a nonprofit organization of physicians that encourages and promotes the study of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Women's Health Care. Member physicians represent over 1000 physicians from 29 states. Each year, the Central Association (CAOG) hosts an annual meeting that updates member physicians about current medical advances.

Oncology

American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO)

  • ASCO is the world’s leading professional organization representing physicians who treat people with cancer. ASCO’s members set the standard for patient care worldwide and lead the way in carrying out clinical research aimed at improving the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. ASCO's efforts are also directed toward advocating for policies that provide access to high-quality care for all patients with cancer and at supporting the increased funding for clinical and translational research.

Pathology

American Society for clinical Pathology (ASCP)

  • Since its founding in 1922, ASCP has been the leader in pathology and laboratory medicine. The society’s influence has guided the evolution and maturation of this medical specialty. ASCP is unique among pathology organizations in that its inclusive membership unites pathologists and laboratory professionals to advance the profession.

College of American Pathologists (CAP)

  • The College of American Pathologists, the leading organization of board certified pathologists, serves patients, pathologists and the public by fostering and advocating excellence in the practice of pathology and laboratory medicine.

American Society for Investigative Pathology (ASIP)

  • The mission of the Society is to promote the discovery, advancement, and dissemination of basic and translational knowledge in experimental pathology and related disciplines. This shall be achieved by fostering investigation into the pathogenesis, classification, diagnosis, and manifestations of disease through meetings, publications, and educational activities.

Pediatrics

Academic Pediatric Association (APA)

  • The APA is dedicated to improving the health of all children and adolescents through leadership in education of child health professionals, research and dissemination of knowledge, patient care, and advocacy, in partnership with children, families and communities.

American Pediatric Society (APS)

  • The objects of the Society shall be to bring together men and women for the advancement of the study of children and their diseases, for the prevention of illness and the promotion of health in childhood, for the promotion of pediatric education and research, and to honor those who, by their contributions to pediatrics, have aided in its advancement.

American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)

  • The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and its member pediatricians dedicate their efforts and resources to the health, safety and well-being of infants, children, adolescents and young adults. The AAP has approximately 60,000 members in the United States, Canada, Mexico and many other countries. Members include pediatricians, pediatric medical subspecialists and pediatric surgical specialists.

Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R)

  • The American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is the national medical society representing more than 7,500 physicians who are specialists in the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R).

Association of Academic Physiatrists (AAP)

  • The objectives of the Association are to promote the advancement of teaching and research in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation within an academic environment. The organization acts as a sounding board and forum for the exchange of ideas and information relative to all phases of the art and science of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. It promotes the distribution of information to future young physicians who will be practicing this art and science for the benefit of the public health and welfare.

Preventative Medicine

American College of Preventative Medicine (ACPM)

  • The American College of Preventive Medicine (ACPM) is the national professional society for physicians committed to disease prevention and health promotion. ACPM's 2,000 members are engaged in preventive medicine practice, teaching and research. Many serve on ACPM committees and task forces and represent preventive medicine in national forums, contributing to the organization's role as a major national resource of expertise in disease prevention and health promotion.

Psychiatry

American Psychiatric Association (APA)

  • The American Psychiatric Association is a medical specialty society recognized world-wide. Its over 38,000 U.S. and international member physicians work together to ensure humane care and effective treatment for all persons with mental disorder, including mental retardation and substance-related disorders. It is the voice and conscience of modern psychiatry. Its vision is a society that has available, accessible quality psychiatric diagnosis and treatment.

American Society for Adolescent Psychiatry (ASAP)

  • Focusing on teen, adolescence, and young adult issues, ASAP acts both as a professional network for its members and a specialized community dedicated to education development and advocacy of adolescents and the adolescent psychiatric field. Membership in ASAP puts psychiatrists in touch with an informed cross-section of the profession from all over North America.

Pulmonology

Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA)

  • Our mission is to find ways to prevent and cure pulmonary hypertension, and to provide hope for the pulmonary hypertension community through support, education, advocacy and awareness. While we have grown, PHA has stayed true to our roots and the vision and ingenuity of our founders. We continue to work every day to end isolation, provide education, involve our constituents in everything we do, and find a cure for pulmonary hypertension.

Radiological Society of North America (RSNA)

  • The mission of the Radiological Society of North America is to promote and develop the highest standards of radiology and related sciences through education and research. The Society seeks to provide radiologists and allied health scientists with educational programs and materials of the highest quality, and to constantly improve the content and value of these educational activities. The Society seeks to promote research in all aspects of radiology and related sciences, including basic clinical research in the promotion of quality healthcare. The Society seeks to foster closer fellowship among all radiologists and greater cooperation among radiologists and members of other branches of medicine and allied healthcare professionals.

American College of Radiology (ACR)

  • The mission of the ACR is to serve patients and society by maximizing the value of radiology, radiation oncology, interventional radiology, nuclear medicine and medical physics by advancing the science of radiology, improving the quality of patient care, positively influencing the socio-economics of the practice of radiology, providing continuing education for radiology and allied health professions and conducting research for the future of radiology.

Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR)

  • The Society of Interventional Radiology is a national organization of physicians, scientists and allied health professionals dedicated to improving public health through disease management and minimally invasive, image-guided therapeutic interventions. The mission of the Society of Interventional Radiology is to improve the health of the public through pioneering advances in image-guided therapy.

American Association for Women Radiologists (AAWR)

  • The American Association for Women Radiologists will assist women in radiology, radiation oncology and related professions to achieve a personal professional fulfillment through equal recognition and opportunities; and will ensure that issues unique to women are acknowledged and addressed by all the members of the profession.

American Roentgen Ray Society (ARRS)

  • The society has been a forum for progress in radiology since shortly after the discovery of the X-ray and is dedicated to the goal of the advancement of medicine through the science of radiology and its allied sciences. The goal of the ARRS is maintained through an annual scientific and educational meeting and through publication of the American Journal of Roentgenology.

Rheumatology

American College of Rheumatology (ACR)

  • The American College of Rheumatology is an organization of and for physicians, health professionals, and scientists that advances rheumatology through programs of education, research, advocacy and practice support that foster excellence in the care of people with arthritis and rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases.

Surgery

American College of Surgeons (ACS)

  • The American College of Surgeons (ACS) is a surgical society dedicated to promoting the highest standards of surgical care through education of, and advocacy, for its Fellows and their patients, and to safeguarding standards of care in an optimal and ethical practice environment.

American Association for Thoracic Surgery (AATS)

  • The American Association for Thoracic Surgery (AATS) is now an international organization of over 1200 members consisting of the world’s foremost cardiothoracic surgeons representing 35 countries. Surgeons must have a proven record of distinction within the cardiothoracic surgical field and have made meritorious contributions to the extant knowledge base about cardiothoracic disease and its surgical treatment to be considered for membership.

Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS)

  • The Society of Thoracic Surgeons is a not-for-profit organization representing almost 6,000 surgeons, researchers, and allied health professionals worldwide who are dedicated to ensuring the best possible heart, lung, esophageal, and other surgical procedures for the chest. The mission of the Society is to enhance the ability of cardiothoracic surgeons to provide the highest quality patient care through education, research, and advocacy.

American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS)

  • The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) is the largest plastic surgery specialty organization in the world. The mission of ASPS is to advance quality care to plastic surgery patients by encouraging high standards of training, ethics, physician practice and research in plastic surgery. The society advocates for patient safety, such as requiring its members to operate in accredited surgical facilities that have passed rigorous external review of equipment and staffing.

American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS)

  • The American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS) is the premier society for colon and rectal surgeons and other surgeons dedicated to advancing and promoting the science and practice of the treatment of patients with diseases and disorders affecting the colon, rectum and anus. More than 1,000 of the Society's 2600+ members are certified by the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery.

American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS)

  • The American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) is the organization that speaks for all of neurosurgery. The AANS is dedicated to advancing the specialty of neurological surgery in order to promote the highest quality of patient care. Urology

American Urological Association (AUA)

  • The American Urological Association (AUA), founded in 1902, is the premier professional association for the advancement of urologic patient care, and works to ensure that its more than 16,000 members are current on the latest research and practices in urology. The AUA also pursues its mission of fostering the highest standards of urologic care by providing a wide range of services—including publications, research, the Annual Meeting, continuing medical education (CME) and the formulation of health policy.
